About Journal of Ovarian Research

What is Journal of Ovarian Research?

Journal of Ovarian Research is an open access, peer reviewed, online journal that aims to provide a forum for high-quality basic and clinical research on ovarian function, abnormalities, and cancer. The journal focuses on research that provides new insights into ovarian functions as well as prevention and treatment of diseases afflicting the organ.

Topical areas include, but are not restricted to:
  • Ovary development, hormone secretion and regulation
  • Follicle growth and ovulation
  • Infertility and Polycystic ovarian syndrome
  • Regulation of pituitary and other biological functions by ovarian hormones
  • Ovarian cancer, its prevention, diagnosis and treatment
  • Drug development and screening
  • Role of stem cells in ovary development and functions.

Content overview

Journal of Ovarian Research considers the following types of article:

  • Research: reports of data from original research.
  • Brief communications: brief reports of data from original research.
  • Case reports: reports of clinical cases that can be educational, describe a diagnostic or therapeutic dilemma, suggest an association, or present an important adverse reaction. All case report articles should indicate that informed consent to publish the information was granted from the patients or their guardians.
  • Reviews: comprehensive, authoritative, descriptions of any subject within the scope of the journal. These articles are usually written by opinion leaders that have been invited by the Editorial Board.

Peer review policies

Journal of Ovarian Research operates a closed peer review policy. Upon submission manuscripts will be screened by one of the Editors-in-Chief. Manuscripts deemed suitable will be sent to at least two experts in the field for review and where appropriate, a statistician's advice will be sought. The journal aims to provide authors with a first decision (accept/revise/reject) within six weeks of submission. Final decisions will be made by the Editors-in-Chief.

Should authors be unhappy with decisions taken by the Editors, a further report by an additional reviewer will provide the basis for a discussion between at least two Editors-in-Chief whose subsequent decision will be final.

Edited by David T. Curiel, Sham S. Kakar, Fumikazu Kotsuji and Stefano Palomba, Journal of Ovarian Research is supported by an expert Editorial Board.
